A French tourist about to embark at Porto Torres on a ship bound for Nice was surprised with 41 kilos of pebbles and stones taken from the Lampianu beach on the Sassari coast.
The officials of the Customs and Monopoly Agency, in collaboration with the security personnel of the Sardinian Sea Port System Authority, stopped the tourist's car and discovered the precious cargo in the trunk.
The passenger was fined under the 2017 regional law and now risks an administrative fine of between 500 and 3,000 euros.
The finds were seized, to then be relocated to the collection point, thanks to the environmental education center of the Porto Conte Park and Capo Caccia - Isola Piana Marine Protected Area.
