Joining the fire department was a gamble she wanted to win when someone told her, "Where are you going? That's a male environment." She joined, and the corps became "family."
After a 28-year journey that saw her depart from Lodi, pass through Sassari, and finally reach Oristano, and thousands of rescue operations, Antonietta Corriga bids farewell to the operational service.
When she joined in 1997, there were very few women in the National Fire Brigade, and she can boast being a trailblazer in Sardinia. A specialist in combating nuclear, biological, chemical, and radiological risks, she has carried out a job with dedication that often becomes a mission: bringing relief to the population.
Her colleagues at the fire station on Via Zara paid their farewell with affection, respect, and gratitude on November 29, a few days before the feast of Saint Barbara, the patron saint of firefighters.
