The Sardinian CGIL (Italian General Confederation of Labour) has declared a regional state of unrest over the island's healthcare crisis. "A change of pace is urgently needed, for workers in the sector and for citizens, whose right to healthcare is no longer being recognized."
The union, with its regional and sectoral bodies, meeting today in Cagliari, recalled the protocol signed on August 4th with the government, containing a series of commitments that remained unfulfilled. General Secretary Fausto Durante said: "The situation is dramatic ; the time for waiting is over. Today, we are moving from words to action and initiating the process of declaring a state of unrest among healthcare workers, and we are not ruling out any form of more effective mobilization."
