On May 8th and 9th, Arzachena will host the G20Spiagge Network for the second time. The theme is "Living in Destinations," a discussion focused on the main challenges facing Italy's major coastal tourist destinations.
"Hosting the G20 Beaches in Arzachena means leading the debate on the future of seaside tourism in Italy. With 55 million visitors represented by the network, we have a responsibility to transform our coasts into year-round destinations, transcending the logic of pure seasonality," says Arzachena Mayor Roberto Ragnedda. "The conference focuses on quality of life: there can be no true hospitality without a strong and protected resident community. In Arzachena, we will address crucial issues such as the housing emergency, the regulation of short-term rentals, and support for seasonal workers. We are focusing on new local economic models, from commercial districts to digital nomadism, to attract value and new forms of residential living. Only by safeguarding the balance between residents and guests can we ensure sustainable and lasting economic development for Sardinia and the entire country."
In addition to Arzachena and Alghero, the only Sardinian communities, the G20Spiagge includes the towns of Bibbona, Caorle, Castagneto Carducci, Castiglione della Pescaia, Cattolica, Cavallino-Treporti, Chioggia, Comacchio, Grado, Jesolo, Lignano Sabbiadoro, Piombino, Riccione, Rosolina, San Michele al Tagliamento, San Vincenzo, Senigallia, Sorrento, Taormina, Viareggio, and Vieste. The G20Spiagge seaside communities attract a total of 55 million tourists, equal to 12% of Italy's total tourist presence.
