The starting bell for all schools of all levels in Sardinia will ring on September 16, 2026. The last day of schooling is set for June 8, 2027 , with the exception of nursery schools, which will end on June 30, with a total of 204 days of lessons (203 if the patron saint's celebration falls on a weekday).

This was established by the Regional Council which, upon the proposal of the Councilor for Public Education Ilaria Portas, approved the 2026-2027 school calendar.

"Today we approved the new school calendar," said Councilor Portas, "a crucial planning tool for families, students, and all school workers, who will be able to organize and balance their personal and work schedules well in advance." "The goal," continued Council member Todde, "is to ensure educational continuity and the right to education, ensuring compliance with the minimum 200 days of lessons required by law, while also seeking a balance that promotes the well-being of students and teachers, and respects all holidays and the work and recovery times required by the school. Within this shared regional framework, school autonomy remains intact: each school will be able to adapt the calendar to the specific needs of its local area."

Here is the list of holidays included in the calendar:

  • October 4, 2026 – Patron Saint of Italy (L. 151/2025);
  • November 1, 2026 – Feast of All Saints;
  • December 8, 2026 – Immaculate Conception;
  • December 25, 2026 – Christmas;
  • December 26, 2026 – Boxing Day;
  • January 1, 2027 – New Year's Day;
  • January 6, 2027 – Epiphany;
  • March 29, 2027 – Easter Monday;
  • April 25, 2027 – Liberation Anniversary;
  • May 1, 2027 – Labor Day;
  • June 2, 2027 – National Republic Day;
  • Patron Saint's Day (according to current legislation, if it falls on a school day)

The following suspensions are also expected:

  • Christmas holidays from 23 to 31 December 2026 and from 2 to 5 January 2027;
  • February 9, 2027: Shrove Tuesday;
  • Easter holidays from March 25 to March 27, 2027;
  • March 30, 2027 (Tuesday following Easter Monday);
  • April 28, 2027: Sa Die de sa Sardigna;
  • 2 days available to the School Council (1 if the Patron Saint's Day of the relevant Municipality falls during the school term).
