The sharp decline in coronavirus infections in Sardinia continues.

This is what the usual weekly report of the Gimbe Foundation certifies.

In the week 6-12 October new cases down by 32% compared to the previous week. Improved performance also for the currently positive cases per 100 thousand inhabitants, which are 105.

The times in which the risk of a yellow zone was feared are also far away, with hospital departments well away from the saturation thresholds set by the ministry: in the medical area only 5% of the beds available are occupied by Covid patients, in intensive care the 6%.

VACCINES - The Sardinian population that completed the vaccination cycle rose to 74.9%. The Italian average, on the other hand, stands at 73.3%. To these numbers must be added a further 4% only with the first dose in Sardinia, while in the rest of the country a 4.1%.

The over 50 population that has not received any dose of vaccine on the island is 9.3% slightly above the Italian average which stands at 9.1%.

Currently in Sardinia there are 1,200,453 people vaccinated, 93.9% of the vaccination coverage target, the population over 12.

THIRD DOSE - The vaccination coverage rate of third doses is, on the other hand, equal to 1.8% in the island. This figure is lower than the Italian average which is 5.1%.

As of 12 October 2021, 389,764 third doses of anti Covid-19 vaccines were administered in Italy, with a coverage rate of 5.1%, compared to a vaccinable audience of 7.6 million people, according to the categories provided for in the first circular. ministerial of 27 September (which does not yet include all over 60s).
