Charon today peaked in Sardinia , where temperatures well exceeded 40 degrees in much of the area.

The heat was felt above all in the Cagliari area. Record temperatures were recorded in Donori and Dolianova, which almost reached 48 degrees, the record recorded in Perfugas on 23 August 2009 . According to Arpas data , 47.71 degrees were detected in Donori, 47.55 in Dolianova .

Exceeded 46 degrees in Decimomannu and Siliqua, 45 in Domus De Maria, Nuxis, Barrali, Sinnai, Monastir . In Cagliari maximum over 44.5 degrees in Pirri , above 41 in Molentargius.

More generally, all of Southern Sardinia exceeded 40 degrees, often abundantly going even beyond 42 . In the North there is a maximum of over 45 degrees in Arzachena, above 44 in Olbia. Among the cities, Nuoro also exceeded 40 (40.1).

The fire danger remains high in the Cagliari area , with the Civil Protection having also declared the orange alert for tomorrow, Thursday 20 July. And the Sardinian capital also for tomorrow and for Friday 21 July remains among the cities with a red sticker of the Ministry of Health , that is, with the maximum alert for heat waves.

According to the Air Force weather service, the anticyclone will continue to keep us company but starting tomorrow it will be pushed southward by a "nuisance coming from Northern Europe", which will bring relatively cooler air and "a drop in temperatures in Sardinia of at least 4 degrees» .

A brief respite, as from Monday the anticyclone will again invade a large part of the Mediterranean bringing with it a new wave of heat . However, the Air Force meteorologists explain, "ventilation from the northwest will lower the humidity".

For a real change of scenery we have to wait until next Wednesday, when again «a sack from Northern Europe could manage to sweep away the African anticyclone from Sardinia , which will continue to persist in Southern Italy, including Sicily».
