Sardinia in the heart of the African anticyclone Charon , which gives no respite even at night.

Yesterday in 43 of the 377 municipalities on the island the threshold of 40 degrees was exceeded , and today the places that will register similar temperatures could increase.

According to the surveys of Sardegna Clima Onlus , whose weather stations cover the entire island, yesterday the record for scorching heat was registered in Ballao, where 44.6 degrees were reached . Guspini followed closely with 43.2, while among the cities Nuoro exceeded 40 degrees, settling at 40.2 .

In Cagliari , also due to its proximity to the sea, the temperature barely exceeded 33 degrees, but already at 10 this morning the temperature was over 34 . The capital is among the 20 red dot cities , it will remain so also tomorrow (when the cities with maximum alert become 23 out of the 27 monitored by the Ministry of Health) and Thursday 20 (when they drop to 18).

This morning 40 degrees have already been exceeded in Monte Arci, in the Campidano area of Oristano, and in Cuglieri .

During the night there is no wind and minimums between 20 and 26 degrees.

Added to this are some water crises in northern Sardinia, particularly in the Sassari area (in Castelsardo), where the tankers of the manager Abbanoa are in action due to maintenance work on the pipelines. And the fire danger, which remains high : the regional civil protection has issued a new bulletin, confirming the orange alert for most of the internal areas of the island.

The ministry has recommended to the Regions the activation of the so-called "heat code" , i.e. a preferential and differentiated care path in the Emergency Departments, to allow them to deal more efficiently with the heat wave.
