Firefighters have responded to over a thousand fires across Sardinia since February 11th. The wave of bad weather currently hitting the island has put the Sardinian provincial command to the test , requiring continuous and relentless operational efforts.
Approximately 600 firefighters are deployed daily to meet the incessant requests reaching the provincial command centers. Teams are dispatched based on rescue priority.
Last night, divers from the Cagliari Command intervened to rescue a flock of sheep stranded on an island in the Oristano area due to rising waters. During the night, divers from the Sassari Command, along with water and river rescuers, intervened in the Camedda area, in the municipality of Ittiri , to rescue five people stranded after a rising river prevented them from safely returning to their homes.
The most affected command centers are Cagliari, Sassari, and Nuoro; in Oristano, too, the number of interventions is above the average for the period.
