Sardinia in the freezer: -11 degrees in Ogliastra, even Cagliari below zero

Sardinia is in a freezer. That just passed was the coldest night of winter and of 2023. This is revealed by the temperatures recorded by the control unit system of the Arpas meteorological department, the regional agency for the environment.

The thermometer dropped to -10.8 degrees in Villanova Strisaili, a hamlet of Villagrande, in Ogliastra, to -8.3 in Illorai (500 meters above sea level). Sadali (-6.5) and Desulo follow (in Brunci Perdu Abes they recorded -5.6 degrees.

The lows were below zero in almost all of the island. Even the Pirri station, in Cagliari, recorded a -0.4.

The climate on the other end is "milder": in Santa Teresa di Gallura the column did not go lower than 5.6 degrees.

The cold will also dominate in the next few days. Today it will be partly cloudy to partly cloudy. Possible weak and isolated precipitation even with a backhand or thunderstorm character. There will be an attenuation in the central hours. More snow is arriving above 600 meters, with elevation rising during the day. Beware of ice on the roads.
