The prosecutor Giangiacomo Pilia has ordered unrepeatable advice as part of an investigation into the flare-ups in the Saras refinery in Sarroch.

The investigation, born from a complaint that dates back to last winter, aims to shed light on the so-called blow-down discharges, that is the system that should filter potentially polluting substances. Precisely to allow the assignment of advice, to establish whether there has been pollution from the gas released by the torches, with black smokes, from 2019 to today, and any responsibilities, the prosecutor notified the president and CEO of the refinery, Settimio Guarrata, and Walter Cocco, the head of the Health, Environment and Safety department, has the right to appoint a consultant who will work alongside that of the Public Prosecutor's Office.

The two executives were thus entered in the register of suspects, but as a deed to allow the appointment of the expert panel. On April 4, the technical consultants, engineers Paola Russo and Rodolfo Araneo, were summoned to the prosecutor's office.

The guarantee deed was also notified to the representatives of the environmental associations who sent the complaint after the smokes in the refinery last winter: Lidia Frailis, president of the Donne Ambiente Sardegna association, defended by the lawyer Alessandra Nocco of the Court of Cagliari, and Angelo Cremone, spokesperson for the Sardegna Pulita association, followed by the lawyer Riccardo Schirò.
