A team from the Cagliari Forestry Station , engaged in land control activities in natural areas, intervened in the Sa Illetta area, on the banks of the Santa Gilla pond, to rescue a fox trapped in a cavity in the ground.
After recovery, the fox, belonging to the endemic subspecies of Sardinia ( Vulpes vulpes ichnusae ), smaller than the European red fox, was transferred to the Wildlife Recovery Centre of Monastir, managed by the Forestas Agency.
During the examinations, the Veterinarians of the Center found lesions on the animal's lower limbs . Treatment has been started.
