It was appendicitis that evolved into peritonitis that killed little Giovanni Luigi Sciascia, the twelve-year-old from Sant'Antioco who died on Monday morning on arrival at the CTO hospital in Iglesias after two visits to the medical guard the night before from a severe "mal belly".
The autopsy, performed yesterday at the CTO of Iglesias by the medical team led by Professor Roberto Demontis, would have come to this result: an appendicitis which as symptoms had given those stomach aches complained of by the child, which would then have evolved into a deadly peritonitis . Could it have been saved? No one can say with certainty, now there is only the response of medical tests that would exclude any other pathologies indicating peritonitis as the only cause of death.
