Crystal-clear water, but also deteriorated screws, bolts, and metal parts—material that poses a potential danger to the public safety of children, families, and swimmers in general who pass through that stretch of beach. Not to mention the waste of public money.
Sa Marigosa beach, in the San Vero Milis marina, is dangerous and in urgent need of remediation: parts of the pier built some time ago are now disused and deteriorated. The request made to the new municipal council (which has yet to take office), led by mayor Giuseppe Vacca, was put in writing by minority councilor Andrea Atzori, who submitted a question yesterday.
"Given that the pier, built as part of the Sa Marigosa redevelopment project, which included the adaptation of the fish landing point and the development of the area for tourism, costing a total of €120,000—€90,000 from Flag and another €30,000 from the Istituto Zooprofilattico—was damaged by the sea in December 2024," the document states, "on June 13, 2026, several swimmers reported and provided documentation to the undersigned that hazardous materials were present in the water and along the shore near the same pier. This is why we are wondering whether the municipal administration is aware of the situation, whether inspections or technical checks have been carried out on the affected area, and whether it deems it appropriate, in consultation with the Oristano Port Authority and other relevant bodies, to urgently clean up and secure the area. Furthermore, what timeframe is expected for carrying out any necessary interventions?"
Andrea Atzori requests a written response and that this question be discussed at the first available meeting of the City Council.
