San Teodoro, on La Cinta beach a new defibrillator in the kite zone
A protected cardio area which, pending the arrival of the paramedics, will allow first aid to be given to swimmers and users of the sailing school in the event of cardiac arrest
The new defibrillator is operational in the northern area of La Cinta.
The DAE device was rented by the Kite Gym San Teodoro through the DAE regional register of Sardinia, set up by Areus.
The sports association has its headquarters on the splendid La Cinta beach and for years has been promoting the practice of kite surfing and other sailing disciplines in what is now considered a real sports center of the sea.
Since yesterday the kite area, managed by the Fiv Instructor, Fabio Tiboni, is equipped with a protected cardio area which, pending the arrival of the paramedics, will allow first aid to be given to swimmers and users of the sailing school in case of cardiac arrest.
"We requested this defibrillator for our safety at work, for the customers of our school and for all the swimmers - explained Tiboni - it is as if we were a sea stadium and thanks to the authorization granted by the Region of Sardinia, and approved at the conference of services from the Harbor Master's Office, the Forestry Corps, the Environmental Engineers, the Marine Protected Area of Tavolara - Punta Coda Cavallo and the Municipality of San Teodoro, we have already created a small indoor structure that can house the DAE».
In early August, in the presence of the municipal councilor for the environment, Barbara Spiga, the new shed in which the device has been present since yesterday was inaugurated. A garrison of fundamental importance for an area of the long beach which is over a kilometer from the two entrances to the beach but which, thanks to the emergency corridor which runs along the entire fence near the dunes, set up by the municipal administration, is constantly manned by the local police aboard a quad. The same type of vehicle is also used by the rescuers of the Croce Bianca San Teodoro to intervene promptly in the northern area of the beach.
In addition to the safety aspect, the new box of the kite school actually represents the first step towards the creation of the multifunctional sports center which will be operational from next summer. A structure dedicated to the practice of various sailing sports such as kite, wind surfing and wing foiling and which will be enriched with further services including a warehouse, a changing room, a tool shed and a box for the safekeeping of the personal effects of those who go out to sea with the instructors, in addition to the first aid kit for minor injuries already supplied at the concession of the Kite Gym sports club. La Cinta has always been the home of surfers but thanks to this sailing school, open from early May until the end of November, the symbolic beach of San Teodoro has also hosted events aimed at promoting water sports for people with disabilities in recent years .
"On the wings of inclusiveness" is the name of the beautiful social project that Fabio Tiboni and collaborators organize 3 times a year with the young people of Asd Speedy sport and which introduces people with mental disabilities to these highly inclusive disciplines.
