San Gavino Monreale is focusing on its valorization starting from its traditions, its identifying monuments and the over one hundred murals that have transformed the town of Medio Campidano into an open-air museum. And with a dive into the history, traditions and culture of the town, the jewels of San Gavino Monreale were taken by storm within the 'Open Monuments' event organized by Imago Mundi and which saw the participation of many volunteers starting from the students of the town schools. Thus in total two thousand visits were recorded to the monuments and open exhibitions. There were many visitors (400) to the church of San Gavino Martire and to the plants of the historic foundry of San Gavino Monreale, opened way back on June 10, 1932 and today, the only remaining industry in Medio Campidano. The visitors were able to visit the various departments of the San Gavino Monreale factory where the refining of lead produces gold and silver ingots, which constitute the business of the plant owned by Portovesme Srl.

Also very impressive was a visit to the 'Dona Maxima' museum, run by the Sa moba Sarda association: volunteers from the 'Come.te' association provided a highly original theatrical tour. Sports enthusiasts visited the 'Nuccio Delunas' Sardinian football museum, named after a player and historic figure in San Gavino Monreale's sport. The memorabilia was a gift from Corrado Delunas, Nuccio's son. Culture Councilor Riccardo Pinna is delighted with the event's success: "This year, Open Monuments has once again proven to be a valuable opportunity to publicize and rediscover the cultural heritage of San Gavino Monreale, not only to the many visitors from out of town, but also to the locals themselves. Special thanks go to the many volunteers, associations, and schools who participated with enthusiasm and commitment, helping to welcome visitors and making this event a shared experience of culture, community, and appreciation for the area."
