Dark clouds are gathering over the future of the foundry, the history of the Sangavino factory opened in 1932 which belongs to Portovesme Srl owned by the Swiss Glencore.

Hopes are reduced to a flicker and there is much discouragement among the 120 workers of the plant and those of the contracting firms.

The mayor of San Gavino Carlo Tomasi met the workers in the hall of the municipal council and is well aware that the closure of the foundry could create situations of social tension .

The mayor has received the strong tension of the workers ready to do anything to avoid the closure of the foundry and launches an appeal to the Region to implement initiatives for the protection of employees.
