On the occasion of the Christmas holidays, the bishop of Ales-Terralba Monsignor Roberto Carboni visited the sick in the Nostra Signora Bonaria hospital in San Gavino .

After the mass, animated by the Gonnosfanadiga choir, the Bishop, accompanied by the Chaplain Don Mario Meloni and some doctors and hospital managers, visited some departments . Words of comfort, handshakes and caresses moved the patients who spoke about their problems asking for prayer.

Father Roberto spoke with the head doctors, doctors, nurses and auxiliary staff and thanked everyone for their commitment to those who suffer . He met many patients who will be able to return home for the Christmas holidays and many others who will instead remain in hospital. «I am here to visit the sick but also to meet the healthcare staff, to encourage them and thank them for this fundamental service», says Bishop Roberto Carboni. " Patients need professionalism but also attention, trust and hope : only the doctor can do this, even in the most difficult situations, with a word, he always opens a path of hope."

The hospital chaplain Don Mario Meloni was also present with the bishop: «This year too we experienced an important moment of Faith inside the hospital on the occasion of Christmas together with our Bishop Roberto, who I thank for his constant attention to this hospital and to the world of healthcare in general. As a Church, we are close to hospitalized patients and their families every day. The spiritual accompaniment of the sick remains an important point in the treatment and healing process and the presence of the chapel and the chaplain are an integral part of the assistance to individuals who ask for this help to live an often painful moment of life with greater serenity. As a chaplain I am proud to carry out this service not only for the sick but also for all the hospital staff who are also recipients of this particular ministry . For this Christmas I wish everyone to be able to truly experience this God-Love who chooses to become Man and to embrace our human condition, including pain and anguish. May our hearts become the cradle that welcomes Jesus who only asks to be born into our lives to make it beautiful beyond all infirmity."
