One, the cycle-pedestrian bridge over the San Bartolomeo canal, has become a monument to delay. The other, the bike path close to the watercourse is a mystery: stopped, after works that proceeded in fits and starts.
The two projects for Cagliari , when they were announced, had been greeted with favor by lovers of two wheels. Now their representative Virglio Scanu of Fiab, a cycle-environmentalist association, looks dejectedly at the blocking of all interventions.
He takes pictures and writes: “Construction sites are stopped, but not just by chance: unfortunately I think it has now become a citizen's way of proceeding. Companies seem to be able to do what they want, with delays of years now ”.
But the municipal councilor for public works, Gabriella Deidda, speaking of the bridge assured: “The company will pay all the penalties. Now a piece of parapet is missing ”, he added,“ but by November the passage will be open ”.
