From Pratobello to Saccargia. The large rally against the onslaught of speculators recalls the popular revolt of 1969. Meanwhile, the organizing committees relaunch: «This is only the beginning of the mobilization, we will continue to make ourselves heard. We will not allow the island to be besieged by wind towers and photovoltaic panels ."

There is not a segment of Sardinia that is not under siege: there are over 800 practices linked to wind farms, photovoltaic panels and offshore turbines for which a "connection request" has been filed, i.e. a permit to connect to the system national energy to obtain incentives and reimbursements. Projects which, if implemented, would be able to produce 58 gigawatts of electricity: «This is a quantity without logic, which we would not even be able to export, not even with the Tyrrhenian Link», says Davide Meloni , of the defense committee of the Uta territory.

The gentlemen of renewables would like to eradicate an olive grove planted thirty years ago, capable of producing - according to the report of an agronomist, appointed by the committee to study the case - olives worth over two hundred thousand euros a year. «Our landscape has already changed», continues Meloni, «Uta has been under siege since 2015 and in recent years we have endured in silence. Even politicians must get it into their heads that the land belongs to the Sardinians and must be defended ."

Yes, the politicians. Few representatives of the institutions participated in the large gathering in Saccargia, with the exception of a few mayors or municipal councilors from the territories most affected by the assault.

« We don't have the support of any party », highlights Luigi Pisci , head of the anti-wind committees, « and despite everything we managed to create a moment of popular participation that has few precedents on the island».

An encore will almost certainly arrive in the coming months: «Maybe in September, in another symbolic place in Sardinia. We are only at the beginning of the mobilization, we are managing to make people understand the risks faced by our island. We will move forward: we will not let the energy transition be stolen from us."
