“I only realized I was pregnant when I felt him move in my belly. I would have just been reckless and selfish to keep a child in this situation." Now Sabrina has a face, the 23-year-old girl born in a town in the Cagliari area from which she had escaped with her 30-year-old boyfriend Michael: after a trip to Germany, where they found and lost their jobs, ending up in trouble, and a stop in Amsterdam, where they lost their documents and telephone, the two arrived in Milan. Here they started living on the street, at the San Donato station.

And inside a tent, in a place where the wake-up call is given by the passage of the machine that cleans the asphalt, their child was born on December 2, after a 15-hour labor: she did not recognize him, she left him in the hospital where she was taken after giving birth. And to the microphones of the Hyenas he decided, with his partner, to tell his story.

He worked in Germany. Six years ago he returned to Sardinia for her, to a small town: «We wanted to leave Sardinia, not because we were sick», they say, «but we were controlled by family friends. Everyone always knew what we were doing, at all times».

So when Michael's former employer contacted him from Germany about a pizza job, they both left. It felt like the turning point. They were going towards the precipice. The business was closed due to the Covid epidemic. And both were left without work. After the contagion, no one called them back. They ended up in a dormitory: "They offered me 50 euros..." Sabrina says, implying that she was offered money in exchange for sex . They haven't found a place anymore. And after various vicissitudes they were expelled from Germany. They landed in Amsterdam: "They stole everything from us: documents and telephone", the girl continues. However, the families had not repudiated them: "We hid our situation, we could not admit that we had done everything wrong".

The return to Italy passes through Milan. Here the homeless life continues. Overwhelmed, if possible still, by the pregnancy: «I didn't notice anything because my period hasn't come for years. Otherwise I would have resorted to IVG ». That is to abortion. Instead the baby comes to light. And their story goes from local to national news. All of Italy talks about it.

Now the Hyenas, through the correspondent Roberta Rei, have given the boys new documents and a job as a pizza maker assistant for Michael. Cleaned and combed, they were delivered to their new destiny. Far from Sardinia.
