The government will intervene to make a final decision on the expansion of Rwm .
Alessandra Todde has made a U-turn, also to avoid further friction within the majority, deciding not to take a decision and not bringing the resolution to the Council today, the last day available to give the project the green light .
The investigation initiated by the competent departments still lacks assessments regarding, in particular, hydrogeological instability and health issues, the Region has revealed. Therefore, a final decision cannot be made .
But the halt issued yesterday by the Green Left Alliance, which made it clear it would vote against the resolution , certainly weighs heavily. "No to a war economy," reiterated the party's regional representatives, supported by MP Angelo Bonelli: "It's right to vote no because not only must we be consistent with what we say, but Sardinia is and must remain a region of peace. This resolution must be rejected; a progressive government cannot do this."
Two months ago , the Regional Administrative Court (TAR), following an appeal by RWM, ordered the Todde government to decide by today . The regional executive hasn't done so, so the ball is now in the Meloni government's court, which will have to appoint an ad hoc commissioner to whom it will submit the authorization .
And the national government will act immediately, promised Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy , Adolfo Urso , opening the discussion on the situation at the Domusnovas plant: "I hope the Sardinia Region will express its opinion on the RWM project by today, respecting the deadline set by the Regional Administrative Court. But if this doesn't happen, I have already contacted Minister Pichetto so that we can intervene promptly to replace the Region, thus overcoming an unsustainable administrative stalemate and finally ensuring a positive solution to a matter that has dragged on for far too long."
Urso reassured the company and unions and urged RWM Italia to immediately begin discussions with the unions regarding the employment plan, which includes the retention of current workers and new hires. According to the company, 60 jobs are frozen until March pending responses. These positions, once fully implemented, could reach 250.
