Major maneuvers yesterday, Saturday 15 February, in the sea and sky south of Sardinia for the passage of a Russian tugboat and submarine.

According to the reconstruction on the ItamilRadar website, specialized in monitoring naval vessels and military aircraft in the Mediterranean, intense air activity was recorded in the Sardinian Sea to monitor the submarine Krasnodar and the tugboat Churov, headed east (today they are at the height of Sicily).

First, an Italian Air Force ATR P-72A took off from Sigonella Air Base: a standard mission that saw it extend its route westward to reach the area where Moscow's submarine was located .

At the end of the morning, an ATR P-72B of the Guardia di Finanza took off from Cagliari: according to the findings of ItamilRadar, "it also monitored the Russian submarine, flying over the area in which it was sailing. In particular, it is unusual for a Guardia di Finanza aircraft to carry out a mission of this kind, which is more typical of military operations."

Then it was the turn of a Boeing P-8A of the US Navy , taking off from Sigonella, which headed to the area where the Russian submarine is located to monitor its movements.
