Five tourists aboard a dinghy were rescued last night by the Alghero Coast Guard after their vessel ran aground on the shallow seabed beneath the cliffs of Punta Giglio.

The 6-meter dinghy in difficulty was reported to the Coast Guard by another vessel : the patrol boat CP 559 of the Alghero Maritime District Office, engaged in patrolling, then reached the reported point in a few minutes and, with the help of another vessel, freed the dinghy which by then had a broken engine.

Once it was established that all people on board were safe, the vessel was accompanied to the nearest landing place, in the bay of Porto Conte , where it was safely moored .
