Roberto Tumbarello, the children's cardiologist, retires: a pillar of healthcare in Sardinia
During the “party” at Brotzu, a moving video was shown that retraces the doctor's career. Councilor Bartolazzi was also there: «I would like it to be done for me too». And a sort of deadline is given in the CouncilA moving celebration. Roberto Tumbarello, the children's cardiologist at Brotzu, is retiring and the hospital, with its entire department, wanted to pay homage to him with a celebratory meeting during which a moving video was shown that reconstructs the career of one of the greatest doctors that Sardinia has ever had.
Although the images and dates follow one another quickly, it took ten minutes of film to tell the story of Tumbarello's life and his professional achievements. The memories of his diploma at Dettori in 1975, his passion for basketball (as a player and fan of Dinamo) and football (his heart is red and blue), and the others about his degree in Medicine in '82, flow quickly.
Then it was all a crescendo, between specializations in pediatrics, cardiology, radiology, travel and experiences in hospitals such as San Diego (California) and Toronto (Canada). A long process of acquiring skills that Tumbarello brought to Brotzu, where he began working as an assistant, to climb the hierarchical ladder with wisdom and sensitivity until he reached the point of directing the complex structure of Pediatric Cardiology. A great doctor ("differently ordered", as can be read in the accompanying images of his desk in chaos) who in recent years has also decided to operate in Palestine, to save children in the land tormented by war.
Now he is retiring, the hospital is celebrating him. During the "little party" there was also the regional health councilor Armando Bartolazzi. After the video he said: "I hope that when I leave you will make a video as beautiful for me too". Someone points out that Tumbarello has left his mark for having worked for 40 years at the service of his patients. Bartolazzi instead made it known that "there is someone who wants to send me away, I will work for a year and a half". Statements that are well suited to the air of reshuffle that is being breathed around the regional council.
