The environmentalist movement "Friday for Future" will take to the streets again across Italy next Friday, October 6th. A protest for the environment and against climate "denialism" which will also involve Cagliari, where on the occasion, the organizers explain, "the funeral of Sardinia" will be celebrated.

«Sardinia and Italy are at a new chapter in climate history: fires, heat waves, droughts, uprooted trees and greenhouses destroyed by the wind, hailstones like tennis balls and floods. It is the chapter of devastation, which makes collective action indispensable", explain the organizers. Adding: «A government that, in the aftermath of the catastrophe, denies any correlation between extreme phenomena and the climate crisis, is a denialist government. And therefore inadequate to indicate answers to prevent the worst scenarios proposed by climate science. Ditto as regards our Regional Council."

Again: «The Italian State has an important responsibility in global mitigation policies, given its historical emissions» and «Sardinia appears as the region with the highest quantity of emissions per capita». Furthermore, the island «in recent centuries Sardinia has been increasingly robbed, starved, suffocated, bombed, poisoned».

For this reason, Fridays For Future Cagliari invites «all associations, unions and movements to join and actively participate in the funeral of our beloved Sardinia. The funeral procession, which will take place in public, will start from viale Trento 69, in front of the Regional Council, starting at 4 pm, and will end under the Regional Council in via Roma".
