One million euros as partial compensation for an avoidable tragedy .
The Province of Sassari has allocated the sum, thus also admitting its own responsibility for the consequences of the accident that marked the life of the then 19-year-old MPF.
On June 19, 2019, the young woman was driving a Peugeot 206 and was traveling from Ardara on the provincial road 102 in the direction of Mores-Ozieri . Around midnight, however, she lost control of the car, which invaded the opposite lane and crashed into the countryside below after a flight of more than 2 meters. And no guardrail could prevent it because both at the time - as today - there is no barrier capable of separating a car, and its driver, from the exit of the road.
With serious consequences, as in this case, which only thanks to the GPS present in the vehicle did not become tragic, since the device signaled the father of the young woman from Ozieri what had happened, allowing him to rush to the scene in time and save his lifeless daughter before the flames from the car engulfed her.
The happy ending was unfortunately partial because the life of the girl, who was supposed to take her final exams the following day, took another direction due to the serious injuries she suffered, caused by the cerebral hemorrhage and multiple fractures.
The family, through the lawyer Francesco Sanna of the Cagliari Bar Association, then decided to sue the Province, which instead believed it was not to blame for the accident.
Judge Marta Guadalapi of the civil court of Sassari then ordered two technical expert opinions. The second of these establishes contributory negligence, arguing that the Authority, as manager and owner of the road, according to current regulations and as a result of the extraordinary maintenance work on the road section in question, should have installed the guardrail, as stated by the lawyer Sanna.
After several meetings between the parties, at the request of the judge, we now arrive at the settlement that establishes the compensation for what happened at approximately one million euros and that the Province will have to give. A sum that will allow the young woman to be able to take care of herself and invest in her own sustenance.
