It was the storm that frightened Raul , the cocker who nearly drowned in the Balai sea , rescued by the fire brigade on the coast of Porto Torres .
The dog, terrified by the loud noise of thunder, tore the net of the courtyard of the mistress's house , a spacious area in which he was kept. Frightened, he began to run like a mad splinter, heading towards the nearby church of Balai , one of the places he knew well, and where he was sure of finding peace of mind. Instead he ended up in the water at the mercy of the force of the waves. What was supposed to be a safe place for the animal has become a nightmare. He went along the seafront accompanied by his mistress on fine days.
«Sunday when Raul ran away I wasn't present, at that moment I was busy at work - explains Pamela Carboni , the owner of the dog - as soon as I returned, I was alarmed not seeing him. I started looking for it in the nearby countryside to no avail. I yelled his name, but nothing. I also launched an appeal on social media and only later did I receive a call to inform me that Raul was safe".
He had been spotted by some passersby while he was struggling to cling to the rocks to avoid being swallowed up by the stormy sea. Alerted on 115, the fire brigade immediately rushed to the scene to save the animal. The recovery was not easy because the place where the operation had to be done was impervious. Under the small church of Balai, the rescue angels reached him and rescued him. A story with a happy ending and great solidarity.
«Raul is fine now, he only has a fracture in his left leg that we are already treating , – added the owner – but I feel I have to thank all the men of the fire brigade team who intervened, a heartfelt thanks to all the people who they took care to bring the dog to safety ».
