A dramatic turn of events opened the Loiri Porto San Paolo City Council meeting: Mayor Francesco Lai announced that a civic assembly will be convened to withdraw the resolution (dated November 2025) approving the urban planning amendment for an area of Cala Finanza, the essential prerequisite for the construction of a five-star campsite by the Sardinian-Brazilian company Tavolara Bay.

Lai confirmed that the highly contested resolution will be reconsidered shortly. City Councilor Riccardo Biancu has resigned. He is the brother of Alberto Biancu, CEO of Tavolara Bay. Riccardo Biancu explained that he had never been involved with the project and that he decided to resign for reasons of transparency.

Opposition city councilor Elio Decandia called for the mayor's resignation. Francesco Lai began responding: "The minority also voted in favor of the November resolution. Resign."
