Why literary festivals? Why are there so many of them? What are the future scenarios? The directors of some of the most important events in Italy gather to discuss a fragile and ever-evolving subject.

This Saturday, June 27th, in Perdasdefogu (10:30 a.m., "Daniele Lai" Municipal Library) is part of the SetteSere SettePiazze SetteLibri Festival. The discussion will begin with Umberto Eco's books: in addition to his well-known works, "Books Anticipate Eternity."

Why is this annual meeting with readers a must? What opportunities? What problems? What scenarios? But is it true that there are too many festivals? After a video presentation by Annalena Benini, director of the Turin Book Fair, the artistic directors of the festivals "Pordenone Legge" (GianMario Villalta), "Campania Libri Festival" (Massimo Adinolfi), Festival Salerno Letteratura (Daria Limatola), and the Urbino Cultural Journalism Festival (Lella Mazzoli) will discuss the event, as will directors and managers of several Sardinian festivals: Claudio Moica of Calasetta, Giovanni Follesa of Carbonia, Angela Testone, the mayor of Dorgali, Marcella Mulas and Aurelio Pullara of Gavoi, Francesca Casula of Liberos-Entula, Davide Mocci of Quartu, Luca Manunza (of Seneghe), and the national vice president of the Booksellers' Association, Aldo Addis. Floriana Me, coordinator of the Libraries and Reading Promotion sector for the Sardinia Region, will be present. Journalist Francesca Lai will moderate the meeting. The Pro Loco Association is organizing the event.
