There is a "light" in Cabras that no one wants to extinguish: it is that of Giacomo Meli, a young man who died a few years ago of a serious form of pancreatic cancer. It is to him that the important charity event organized by his friends is dedicated.

It is thanks to them that on Saturday, in Piazza Don Sturzo, for the second consecutive year, there will be a solidarity marathon to raise funds for research, between music and tradition.

"We could not remain helpless in the face of such great pain as the loss of a friend", says the president of the association Roberto Matta, "We want to give our contribution to defeating the disease, so that its light continues to shine".

The event dedicated to the young man from Cabras takes place over two days. On Friday there will be a conference at the multipurpose center starting at 4.30pm. Several doctors will talk about pancreatic cancer: from symptoms to the importance of research. But not only. The Nastro Viola association will also be presented, one of the few in Italy to deal specifically with fundraising for pancreatic cancer research. There will be a charity show on Saturday. It starts at 18 with the parade of traditional Sardinian carnival masks. Participating are the groups S'urzu and sos bardianos from Ula Tirso, Sonaggiaos and s'urzu from Ortueri, Is Scruzzonis from Siurgus Donigala, Su Sennoreddu and s'iscusorzu from Teti. To welcome the local will be the Folk Group Gli Scalzi Cabras, accompanied by the Folk Group Guilcer Real of Paulilatino. Luca Oppo and Yago Mastinu will take care of the music for an afternoon of folklore.

At 21 the concert begins under the guidance of Stefano Floris and Tiziana Nuvoli, well known to the general public for their travels in search of Sardinians around the world broadcast on local TV. Francesco Piu, Reverendo Jones, Beppe Dettori and the Menhirs will perform.

You can access the event with a free offer. In the same square there will be the stands of various local associations that will welcome those present to discuss the central theme of the evening. They will also distribute informative material on the importance of prevention. An important contact opportunity to increase knowledge on the oncological theme in favor of check-ups.
