"Storm surges peak on Tuesday: waves will penetrate the coast for 50 meters": the ARPAS bulletin
Update from the Sardinian Civil Protection Operations RoomVideo di Alessandra Carta
"Tomorrow will be the worst day for storm surges: it will be a crescendo with waves up to 6 meters." Alessandro Delitala, director of the Meteorological and Climate Department of the regional agency for environmental protection, explained this in a live link from Arpas Sardinia to the regional Civil Protection operations center.
A map is projected on a large screen: storm surges are marked in red. So the south of the island and the eastern side will be the hardest hit. "In fact, marked in brown, waves of up to 9 meters are forecast a little further offshore."
The report shows that once they hit the coast, the waves will penetrate up to 50 meters. To further narrow down the peak storm surge, "the worst hours are early tomorrow, particularly between 6 and 10 in the morning."
