On the occasion of today's demonstration in Cagliari, aimed at claiming the right to health, the regional councilor for health, Mario Nieddu, met a delegation of mayors and committees together with the group leaders. The meeting took place in the Chamber of the Regional Council, and at the end Nieddu underlined "the great difficulty" of finding "immediate solutions to many daily emergencies, including pandemics, and to issues that have been dragging on for years, not only of regional competence" .
The commissioner also explained: "We have implemented many measures: from competitions, including those for the coverage of disadvantaged locations, to funds for the elimination of waiting lists, always comparing ourselves with everyone". But, he stressed, "these are interventions that take time and often do not allow for the immediate achievement of the programmed objectives, in some cases also due to obstacles linked to national legislation and contracts".
In any case, the conclusion, "we will continue to do our utmost because we want to do everything to improve Sardinian health".
Among the many voices, that of "Sos Sanità Barbagia" which reported the value of a protest that comes from below ("we are neither politicians nor trade unionists") but asks for answers on a fundamental right, that of health, which "comes before everything". A right put to the test by problems (emergency rooms, waiting lists, basic and specialist medicine and diagnostics) that cannot be solved.
The president of Anci Emiliano Deiana instead highlighted the need to "immediately start a new course by deeply involving the territories in health policies, starting with the corporate acts of the ASL in which the mayors must also actively participate." and Committees, the group leaders and the president of the sixth commission Antonio Mundula have pledged to accelerate the reform process aimed at bringing the health service as close as possible to the citizens.
