No construction sites or noisy building work to ensure the peace of mind of tourists and residents during the summer season. With this goal in mind, the mayor of Villasimius has signed an ordinance regulating the hours everyone must adhere to until the end of August.

The measure, in force since June 20, takes into account the "primarily touristic vocation of the Municipality, which during the summer months sees a notable influx of people, making it necessary to meet the needs of guests by ensuring a stay characterized by the greatest possible tranquility ." Specifically, from June 20 to July 31, professional activities or noisy jobs cannot be carried out between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM and between 8:00 PM and 9:00 AM the following morning.

But the restrictions become even more stringent in August , when the ban becomes total, with no distinction between weekdays and holidays. Only low-noise work, such as manual finishing, painting, cleaning, and similar activities, will be permitted on weekdays. The ordinance excludes green space maintenance activities, which may be carried out from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

But what is meant by "noisy occupations"? This category includes all activities that, through the use of machinery, motors, or manual tools, produce noise that can be heard even outside the workplace. This definition also includes activities that cause the spread of dust or odors outside the premises in which they are performed. The ordinance provides for possible exemptions, which may be granted by the mayor only for genuine and urgent needs, upon reasoned request. Violation of the provisions carries a fine of €250 , unless the act constitutes a crime or is subject to more severe penalties. Enforcement is entrusted to the local police and law enforcement agencies.
