The Iglesias political world is under a strictly anonymous "musical attack." A four-minute song titled "Iglesias of Wonders"—considered by some (a few) to be a lighthearted joke, by others (many) a smear of defamation—has been circulating in Iglesias chat rooms for a few days and has now even crossed the city limits.

The focus is primarily on the actions of Mayor Mauro Usai, but also on those of his municipal council, the majority and opposition councilors, and with references also to the upcoming provincial elections for which Mauro Usai is a candidate for president.

The accusations, accompanied by a very strong cartoon on the theme of corruption and the selling out of human dignity , are so strong that Mayor Usai, in a long commentary post on social media, compares them to attacks already suffered by local politics in the past, with threats, graffiti, arson attacks, letters and virtual messages always strictly anonymous.

This time, however, she considers the attack more serious, to the point of feeling afraid, "not of the baseless insinuations and defamations," she says, "but of the effects they have on the serenity of your life and that of your family. You wonder if it made sense to give your all if you then get so much malice back."

The mayor, while recalling that the law protects victims of defamation and gratuitous hatred, warns everyone, especially in this very delicate historical moment, of the risk of undermining the serenity of the most vulnerable groups, who risk being influenced by it, sparking hatred that could erupt into violent acts.
