"I'll kill you like pigs." This is reportedly one of the phrases uttered by a 25-year-old man armed with a knife in Sassari against two police officers shortly before dawn on Sunday.

It all began when a 43-year-old man, already arrested on Friday, showed up in the square with a billhook and threatened to kill someone. The person called the police, and officers arrived and identified him.

At that point, the young man allegedly arrived with a gun, threatening to kill everyone. He allegedly told the officers, "I'll smash you, I'll smash your face in," before immediately handing over the weapon. Once arrested, the two, according to the charges, injured themselves inside the patrol car, claiming that this would mean they would blame the officers for the injuries.

Charged with aggravated threats involving the use of a weapon, resisting arrest, and insulting a public official, they appeared today in court in Sassari before Judge Silvia Masala for the fast-track hearing. They are represented by lawyers Elisabetta Udassi and Andrea Piroddi, while the prosecutor is Gianni Caria.
