It has already happened several times this season, the last one just over two weeks ago, and it could happen again. It is the suspension, for security reasons, of the weekly market in the Cuore car park on Sundays when Cagliari plays at 12:30 or 15:00. A decision, taken to clear the area (also used as a car park by Unipol Domus spectators) early to allow for checks by the police, which has always met with discontent from the approximately 600 exhibitors. Who have asked for a different solution.

"We know how important it is for exhibitors and for the many citizens who visit it every Sunday," commented the Councilor for Economic Development and Productive Sectors, Carlo Serra, who yesterday in the City Council responded to the three questions on the market. "It is not an arbitrary choice, but a necessity established by the security table, which evaluates the risks and imposes specific measures for the management of public order in large events."

Serra specifies: «The lost day is recovered with an additional day in the management tender». But, aware of the difficulties for the operators, the Municipality is working to identify concrete solutions. «It is not easy to find adequate spaces, but the Administration is fully committed», continues the councilor . «We have already started a discussion with the other departments and trade associations to find a solution and a suitable, functional place that respects the safety criteria».

Among the proposals, Serra indicates three: "Improve coordination with the security table to receive more timely communications to be able to evaluate alternative solutions. Evaluate a reduction in the market hours and exhibitors on critical days, compatible with the time needed for clearance, cleaning and remediation by the police. Identify a new location, considering that the current area is temporary and is intended for the construction of the new Sports Hall".
