"We're full of words like 'inclusion', 'integration', and 'support', but the Sardinian citizens who 'ask for help' are never listened to."

The complaint was made by FdI regional councilor Corrado Meloni, who submitted an urgent question to Transport Councilor Barbara Manca to shed light on the incident reported by a Sardinian citizen with a severe motor disability, who reported being unable to depart from Cagliari Elmas Airport for Rome despite having submitted all the required documentation.

"This is a very serious episode, not only because of the financial damage suffered, but above all because of the human and civil nature of the situation," a statement reads. "A vulnerable person forced to wait in uncomfortable conditions, deprived of the opportunity to seek treatment and attend an important appointment, only to be left without any response."

The events date back to September 20th. According to the reconstruction contained in the interrogation, on the day of departure, the man presented himself at the Sala Amica desk at Cagliari-Elmas Airport with his companion. There, he was challenged for the size of his wheelchair and informed that he would not be able to board . Consequently, he was transferred to "a rigid wheelchair unsuitable for his physical condition, forced to wait for approximately an hour in conditions of great discomfort," unable to depart and without receiving adequate assistance.

The next day, she decides to send a certified email: "The complaint sent via certified email last September," Meloni continues, "never received a response from either the airline or the Region, even though the relevant offices were informed of the incident in December."

"Territorial continuity is not a benevolent concession," he concludes, "it is a right of Sardinians, and even more so for those who live with a disability every day. This is why we need immediate clarity on what happened, and stringent guarantees to ensure similar incidents never happen again."
