Hundreds of boxes containing brand new lamps, purchased in 2012 and never installed. The discovery, made in 2023 by the councilors of the minority groups "Quartucciu nel cuore" and Gruppo misto during an inspection of the former nursery school in via Biserta, has now turned into an official investigation: the Guardia di Finanza has sealed the archive where they were stacked, following alleged irregularities in the public procurement procedure.
Municipal officials were also present to follow the operations during the intervention of the Fiamme Gialle. Mayor Pietro Pisu chose caution: "There are investigations underway, so it is right to await developments with attention and respectful silence."
The issue was raised in the City Council in the summer of 2023 by councilor Giovanni Meloni, who hypothesized that the lamps could be the same ones previously stacked in the museum adjacent to the Sergio Atzeni park, officially closed with the liquidation of all the amounts in 2013. "If that were the case, these lighting fixtures would have cost around 200 thousand euros," he declared.
The Councilor for Public Works Walter Caredda, speaking in the Council, explained that he had discovered the existence of the lamps only in 2019 , during an inspection of the library in via Pertini with the then Councilor for Urban Planning Tonino Meloni, the mayor Pisu and the former regional Councilor for Public Works Roberto Frongia. According to what was reconstructed, the lighting fixtures were part of the specifications for the museum's installation: some were installed in the library and in the square in front, but the museum, having remained incomplete, never used them.
Today, their technological obsolescence makes them unusable. The opposition had spoken of possible damage to the treasury, urging the secretary general to verify whether there had been correct management of the administrative action and to clarify why the contract had never been completed.
