Andrea Piras, a young politician from Quartucciu, received a bronze medal of merit from the Italian Red Cross for his contribution during the pandemic. "It was an unexpected surprise and heartfelt thanks go to the national president of the Red Cross Rosario Valastro and especially to the regional president Sergio Piredda for this important recognition," commented Piras, who at the time sat on the benches of the League in the Regional Council, today, however, is commissioner of the UDC for the province of Cagliari.

The recognition is linked to an amendment proposed by Piras to the Council during the last legislature, thanks to which the Red Cross of Sardinia received 80 thousand euros to equip itself with an Isoark chamber and stretcher, essential tools for the safe transport of patients with high risk of infection. "These awards repay all the efforts and sacrifices made in recent years - adds Piras - and are an encouragement to continue working for the good of our community."

The parchment he was given reads: "For having supported the needs of the Association by proposing an amendment..." A certificate that celebrates the importance of institutional action even in times of crisis, enhancing the role of those who work for the collective good.
