Quartucciu is still shaken by the tragedy that took place yesterday evening in the Raffaele Piras square, where around 10.30 pm a two-month-old baby died while his mother was breastfeeding him .

The cause of the drama will be clarified by the autopsy, which the prosecutor of Cagliari Andrea Vacca entrusted to the coroner Roberto Demontis. There are two hypotheses: the baby could have died from a congenital malformation or from an illness also linked to the scorching heat .

There were several people in the square last night, who left the house to escape the strong heat that is affecting the whole of Sardinia these days. Among these , the little one with his 35-year-old father, 33-year-old mother and grandparents .

According to what was reconstructed by the carabinieri of the Quartu Company , the mother was breastfeeding him when the child passed out . The father took him in his arms and tried to revive him, other people who were in the square also intervened to help them and practiced resuscitation maneuvers . Shortly after, the 118 ambulance arrived, which was already in the area, but not even the doctors were able to revive the baby .

The Carabinieri of Quartu have the task of reconstructing the tragedy but everything seems clear enough. Apart from the cause of death, a knot that can only be resolved by the autopsy on the little body which will be performed at the Monserrato Polyclinic.
