Operation "quiet mid-August" with the recovery of a kilo of marijuana, one of hashish, a scale and material to package the doses. A maxi blitz, that of the Carabinieri of the Quartu Company, started two days ago and intensified last night in conjunction with the mid-August party and went on until this morning. The replay is scheduled for tonight with other checks on the territory, including the coast. A 29-year-old was arrested for possession of drugs for the purpose of dealing. He is now under house arrest awaiting the trial scheduled for tomorrow.

The "quiet mid-August" operation also allowed for the control of 190 motorists after the stop imposed on a hundred cars in Quartu and on the coast. During last night, the carabinieri also checked 40 people detained under house arrest: they were all found at home.

Overall, six patrols were mobilized with about twenty carabinieri with checks extended to the most trafficked roads along the coast, from Poetto, up to Solanas and Torre delle Stelle and in the main internal traffic arteries. Particular attention was paid to compliance with speed limits, overtaking cars and the use of mobile phones while driving. Several alcohol tests were also carried out. Several public places controlled.

The entire operation was coordinated by Captains Michele Cerri (commander of the Quartu Company) and Pietro Lucania and by Lieutenant Ignazio Cabras, respectively commanders of the Operational Nucleus and of the Mobile Radio Nucleus of the same Quartu Company. The carabinieri of the stations of Flumini, Monserrato, Sestu, Selargius, Sinnai, Maracalagonis and Burcei are also mobilized in the operation.
