For months, 579 Quartu beneficiaries have been waiting in vain for the payment of their REIS (social inclusion income) payments, which have not yet been paid by the Region. So, to help these struggling citizens, the Municipality has decided to advance the funds. The delay in regional funding has delayed the payment of the four monthly payments for July, August, September, and October.
"There are many beneficiaries in Quartu, and it's understandable that this prolonged wait has become unbearable," explains Social Services Councilor Marco Camboni. "The administration has therefore decided to take concrete action and advance the funds, which will then be returned to the municipal coffers following the payment from the Region. This totals nearly €1 million, or €872,000 to be precise, which will cover the four outstanding monthly payments. Therefore, all beneficiaries will receive their benefits in the coming days."
The regional REIS measure involves participation in a personalized active inclusion project, which provides monthly financial support for a year.
