Sixty-five dead are now parked in the mortuary of the Quartu Sant'Elena cemetery due to the lack of available niches.

They are mothers, fathers, children and brothers who have just had time to say goodbye before the door of that cold room closed. Then nothing more. Not even a goodbye, not even a chance to leave a flower or cry over a grave.

There are those who have been waiting for July, who, it seems, from even earlier. However, a solution can be seen on the horizon. The transfer of the bodies to the 190 niches built above some columbaria already existing in the current cemetery should begin on Tuesday.

So not in the land of Via San Francesco owned by the Municipality where the extension works have resumed, but always in the modern part of the current cemetery . However, good news for the relatives of the deceased who have died in recent months and who have not yet had a burial.

Not even in the niches purchased by people still alive who had already been all occupied in a whirlwind of temporary accommodation. In the mortuary it is now beginning to "stay tight", so much so that it was feared that if the emergency continued, other rooms would have to be found to house the bodies awaiting burial.
