Quartu, a tourist city, is moving towards the tourist tax : with the green light for the specific Regulation which governs the times and methods of introducing the tax payable by visitors who stay overnight in its territory, the Quartu municipal council takes the first step to adapt to the standards of the regional tourist offer.
The revenue from the tax, which should come into force next year, will in fact be used to finance interventions relating to tourism and promotion of the city , including those to support accommodation facilities, as well as maintenance, use and recovery of cultural and local environments and related public services. The measure, which is now preparing to be discussed in the Productive Activities and Budget commissions responsible for the sector, will then reach the City Council for final approval. Finally, it will be sent to the Ministry of Economy and Finance which will have to publish it within 15 working days following the date of insertion in the fiscal federalism portal: the regulation will take effect from the first day of the second month following that of publication by the MEF .
«The tourist tax will officially start on 1 March 2025 until 31 October and will thus be applied for every year to come», explains the Deputy Mayor and Budget Councilor Tore Sanna . «A natural passage that accompanies the transformation of the city which, with its 64 thousand official presences registered last year, can now rightly be considered a consolidated tourism destination in Southern Sardinia».
