If it's not a record, we're close.

In the streets where double stop signs have been set up in Quartu Sant'Elena , there hasn't been a single accident in two years . And the news is really one you don't expect, if you consider that before the new signs were drawn, there were at least two-three accidents a day. It is proof that double stops, which do not require checkpoints and patrols, are even more effective than speed cameras, at least in the streets of the urban centre, in forcing motorists to reduce speed.

And to think that at the beginning they had been criticized and even mocked with a series of memes and cartoons that appeared on the web. How can we forget that of a stylized Massimo Zedda, former mayor of Cagliari, who said "I was the king of the roundabouts, now you've become the one of the stop signs", addressed to the Quartese "colleague" Graziano Milia.

In the end, however, the goal was achieved and the results indeed went beyond all expectations. The double stops have been drawn in what are considered the most dangerous intersections in the city: via Vittorio Emanuele-La Marmora, Zara-Milan, Merello-Perra, Fadda-San Francesco-via Cimitero, Diaz-Sicilia, Boito-Palestrina, Merello -Princess Jolanda, Gramsci-Malipiero, Cagliari-Dante, Fiume-Fratelli Bandiera, Princess Jolanda-Mercantini and Manara-Vico . Just think of how dangerous the intersections in via Merello and in via Fadda were where people traveled at high speed without slowing down despite the poor visibility.
