Also Quartu in the Network of Sustainable Municipalities , a national non-profit association, born in January 2021 on the initiative of ALI-Italian Local Autonomies, Città del Bio and Leganet. The goal is to pursue policies for environmental, social, cultural and economic sustainability , based on the 17 sustainability objectives of the United Nations Agenda 2030 and the 12 objectives of equitable and sustainable Wellbeing. Membership was made official this morning in the presence of the national and regional leaders of the two associations.

"We realize that the implementation of this agenda is progressing too slow - said the mayor of Quartu Graziano Milia - there must be a change of pace and awareness of the importance of these objectives. We need to take responsibility. And also a willingness to be monitored and to collect suggestions. In Sardinia we are convinced that the laws are enough, while in reality the communities must also determine sustainable development ".

The president of the regional network, the mayor of Nuoro Andrea Soddu , is satisfied with the new entry of Quartu. "An important membership - he underlined - because it is the third Sardinian city by number of inhabitants and is part of the metropolitan city of Cagliari. The hope now is that the entire metropolitan city will join. One cannot but think of environmental sustainability," social and economic as the only way forward ".

Also present at the baptism of Quartu were Alessandro Brocatelli, national vice president of the Network and Valerio Lucciarini, national director of ALI.

"We have a dashboard of 101 indicators - recalled Lucciarini - and it is a path that is generating great attention".
