"We are here to give our contribution, we will not look the other way". To say it is the mayor Graziano Milia who, during the meeting "Quartu, spring is rebirth", answered the questions of the journalist of L'Unione Sarda Ivan Paone, who for over an hour pressed him on highly topical issues for Sardinia: health, transport, environment, waste, Pnrr and the next regional elections. "Are you announcing your candidacy?" asks the journalist.

«It is unthinkable that the third largest city in Sardinia is not interested in what surrounds it. Our symbol "Rebirth" requires us to take care of the regional elections, but the candidacies are something else. Well, I want to take care of it as mayor of Quartu», said Milia, also assuring that his name will not appear among those of the center-left primaries.

«Those who talk about primaries are thinking about directing a deployment, I'm dealing with Sardinia. The temptation is there, but it's not fair for the citizens I administer and it's not fair for this land that, like so many, I love. Honestly? I'm very angry at how things are going and I really suffer a lot seeing the good guys who go away and never come back, including my son, I can't turn away from this».

No judgment on the current Regional Council: « I haven't become a do-gooder, but I'm not interested in playing roles. It is clear that this junta is working badly, however, you do not make the perspective by speaking ill of the other, but by saying what you want to do. Those who make politics live with the need of the enemy, without understanding how difficult and suffering Sardinia is. I don't believe in political proposals that arise against someone and against something: we in Quartu didn't do it, we said what we wanted to do and we are doing it».

And Quartu, according to the mayor, can be a good example to follow in the broader regional context. "I would give myself enough, I would give my council ten, the same vote that both the majority and the minority deserve", he added, "I perceive a new and different way of thinking, we have put together all the resources that are in this city and let's try to imagine its future. For two and a half years we have had a working city council, almost always everyone is present, few and justified absences. All the groups work and I feel that the Quartese see it. I give myself enough, because even if one is doing well, one can always do better and even more».

Several political figures were present in the room: from local administrators of neighboring centers to regional councilors, former politicians, but also hundreds and hundreds of citizens who followed the meeting from the screens in via Eligio Porcu.
