They forced their way through a Carabinieri checkpoint and fled in a car loaded with stolen goods. The drive lasted just a few minutes and ended with the arrest of three men, charged with resisting arrest and embezzlement.
The incident occurred yesterday in San Forzorio, during a territorial control operation carried out by soldiers from the Operations and Radiomobile Unit of the Quartu Company, with the support of their colleagues from Monserrato.
At the sight of the Carabinieri, who had ordered a Ford Focus to stop, the driver suddenly accelerated, forcing the roadblock and starting a brief chase.
The escape ended shortly afterward, when the vehicle was stopped and the three occupants were arrested and identified. No one was injured. All three, unemployed and residents of the Cagliari metropolitan area, were searched.
Inside the car, officers found approximately 220 kilograms of pre-slaughtered meat, which was part of a shipment destined for a business in the province of Sassari and delivered to a food distribution company based in Selargius. €380 in cash was also found in the vehicle, believed to be the proceeds from the sale of part of the merchandise.
Immediate investigations allowed the provenance of the cargo to be reconstructed, and it was returned in full to its rightful owner. Following the formal procedures, the three men were arrested and handed over to the judicial authorities.
