A diver was hit by a dinghy this morning in the waters of S'Oru 'e Mari, along the Quartu coast. He was rushed to Brotzu by ambulance, where his life is not in danger, but he risks having part of his foot amputated.

According to initial reports, the man— Filippo Segreto, 74, originally from Villamassargia but resident in Decimomannu —was diving when he was struck by a passing vessel, a short distance from the marina: the dinghy is part of a team competing in a world catamaran competition that will soon take place in the area.

Contrary to what initially emerged, Segreto was also apparently hit by the propeller , causing deep wounds and several fractures.

The first aid came from the occupants of the dinghy—a 49-year-old Spaniard was driving— who hoisted him aboard and brought him back to land. There, emergency workers were waiting for him: the assigned code is red.

The Cagliari Port Authority is investigating the incident and has already carried out initial investigations: the diver was equipped with a signal balloon.

The driver of the dinghy was subjected to a breathalyzer test and the prosecutor's decision on whether to seize the vehicle is pending.
